Welcome to Lutheran Church of the Palms

We are a congregational family that cares for one another and for the world.  We welcome anyone of any age and we strive to truly be God's hands and feet on the ground and in the trenches. Loving service is important to us along with a strong, vibrant worship tradition, music and educational programs to nurture and help God's love grow in this place and within our community.  We give praise, thanksgiving and honor to God through our weekly worship.

If you are searching for a church home and a family that loves God, loves you and cares for you, celebrates corporate worship, gives back and values making positive change, then you have found the right place!

Introduction
James tells us to stop showing favoritism in the assembly, treating the rich visitor with more honor than the poor one. Jesus himself seems to show partiality in his first response to the Syrophoenician woman in today’s gospel. Was he testing her faith in saying Gentiles don’t deserve the goods meant for God’s children? Or was he speaking out of his human worldview, but transcended those limits when she took him by surprise with her reply? Either way, the story tells us that God shows no partiality. Everyone who brings a need to Jesus is received with equal honor as a child and heir.

Check out our HAPPENINGS and Calendar page for upcoming events!

The purpose of the meeting is to continue dreaming dreams and together finding new and better ways of "doing church" in the community and current social environment to ensure the health and well-being of LCOP into the future.

The Visioning Team is Listening! Thank you for your suggestions.  As a result, we

are implementing one of your suggestions immediately!  Look for the Visioning Views stations or use the feedback form on the Happenings page of our website. We are placing Index cards at the church entrances and in the fellowship hall. We ask that you use these as one way to communicate your suggestions, comments and questions about the LCOP's short- and long-term future as it relates to this visioning process. Please place your cards in the Offering Plate or give to a Visioning Team member. You are being heard. Thank you and thanks to John Skiratko for this suggestion!

Gospeltopia Vacation Bible School

A huge thank you to Karen Bracalento who headed up our Vacation Bible School at Lutheran Church of the Palms.  Our theme was Gospeltopia  and our week long VBS was an exceptional experience for children and staff alike this year.  Each day we had 16 to 18 children that attended from our community. We shared a story and  met a new puppet animal friend each day that introduced the children to Jesus explaining how Jesus loves, cares, and shows them his strength. The kids got to engage in indoor/outdoor games, and crafts they could take home with them.. We even participated in doing a couple of experiments. Each day the kids had fun making their own snacks, (and Ms. Karen told them she wanted to see it before they ate it!). Friday we experienced a Water Day/Pizza party, the kids had a Blast!

I want to thank all the volunteers that made this year’s VBS fun, exciting, and gave children a chance to be introduced to Jesus and all the wonderful things he does.

Many thanks to Jean Minkin, Judy Clark, Ann Brunk, Janet Proper, Debbie Hadlock, Cathy Gustafson, and Kathy Husk (a friend of Karen Bracalento). Each of you are a Blessing to this important Children’s Ministry. Thank you!

Join us on Wednesday evenings in August and September for BBQ dinners and to learn about the programs and services different organizations offer in our community.  Here is another way we can become ambassadors and volunteers and help those in our community find resources when they are in need.  Click on the link above to go to the Ministries page where you can find additional details.

Learn more about our outreach partners and projects. We have many opportunities for those who are looking to volunteer and serve within our community and within our church.
