Welcome to Lutheran Church of the Palms

We are a congregational family that cares for one another and for the world.  We welcome anyone of any age and we strive to truly be God's hands and feet on the ground and in the trenches. Loving service is important to us along with a strong, vibrant worship tradition, music and educational programs to nurture and help God's love grow in this place and within our community.  We give praise, thanksgiving and honor to God through our weekly worship.

If you are searching for a church home and a family that cares for you and values, corporate worship, giving back and making positive change, then you have found the right place!

8th Sunday after Pentecost

When Amos reports his vision of God judging Israel for its mistreatment of the poor, he becomes a threat to the power of the priests and the king. John the Baptist also speaks truth to power, and Herod has him killed. In Herod’s fear that Jesus is John returned from the dead, we may hear hope for the oppressed: all the prophets killed through the ages are alive in Jesus. We are called to witness to justice in company with them, and to proclaim God’s saving love.

Join us on July 14th immediately following worship in the sanctuary for our second Congregational Visioning Meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to continue dreaming dreams and together finding new and better ways of "doing church" in the community and current social environment to ensure the health and well-being of LCOP into the future. Again we will limit the meeting to 1 hour and follow it up with lunch in fellowship hall. Please click on the pink link for more information and specific details regarding our next meeting.

The Visioning Team is Listening! Thank you for your suggestions.  As a result, we

are implementing one of your suggestions immediately!  Look for the Visioning Views stations. We are placing Index cards at the church entrances and in the fellowship hall. We ask that you use these as one way to communicate your suggestions, comments and questions about the LCOP's short- and long-term future as it relates to this visioning process. Please place your cards in the Offering Plate or give to a Visioning Team member. You are being heard. Thank you and thanks to John Skiratko for this suggestion!

Helping Children Thrive and Learn
Donations accepted now through July 28th (last collection day)

it is time once again to support the children in our community prepare for the start of a new school year.  We have many schools with many needs.   We have been  in contact with 3 elementary schools in our area and all of those schools prioritized underwear and socks for both boys and girls (sizes 4-12) as the most important need. Although that may seem difficult to believe, the schools often need to fill the void for children where basic necessities are not being met.

The complete list of school supplies most needed are below in addition to the socks and underwear.

  • Hard plastic pencil boxes

  • 3 prong folders

  • Spiral Notebooks.

  • Highlighters (multi-colored)

  • Glue Sticks.

  • Composition books (primary wide-ruled)

  • Backpacks

Our Barlow Little Palms Pre-school has also requested the following suppliers for fall:

  • Glue Bottles
