We are a congregational family that cares for one another and for the world.  We welcome anyone of any age and we strive to truly be God's hands and feet on the ground and in the trenches. Loving service is important to us along with a strong, vibrant worship tradition, music and educational programs to nurture and help God's love grow in this place and within our community.  We give praise, thanksgiving and honor to God through our weekly worship.

5th Sunday after Pentecost

Now is the acceptable time; now is the day of salvation! Now we are in the storm, the boat almost swamped; but Jesus is here now, and when we call him, he will calm the storm. Even the wind and waves listen to him as they would to their creator. We also listen to him and are called to believe in the power of God’s word in him, a power greater than all that we fear.

Theme: “Fear and Faith”

Thoughts: Overcoming Fear with Faith; Gospel lesson is like a metaphor for real life. In the boat with others. Finding strength from one another and God.

763 My Life flows on in endless song

773 Precious Lord take my hand

856 How Great thou Art

Communion Hymns:

482 I Come with Joy

483 Here Is Bread

Check out our HAPPENINGS and Calendar page for upcoming events!

Join us on July 14th immediately following worship in the sanctuary for our second Congregational Visioning Meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to continue dreaming dreams and together finding new and better ways of "doing church" in the community and current social environment to ensure the health and well-being of LCOP into the future. Again we will limit the meeting to 1 hour and follow it up with lunch in fellowship hall. Please click on the pink link for more information and specific details regarding our next meeting.

The Visioning Team is Listening! Thank you for your suggestions last Sunday! As a result, we

are implementing one of your suggestions immediately!  We are placing Index cards at the church entrances and in the fellowship hall. We ask that you use these as one way to communicate your suggestions, comments, questions about the LCOP short- and long-term future. Please place your cards in the Offering Plate or give to a Visioning Team member. You are being heard. Thank you and thanks to John Skiratko for this suggestion!

A Joy Filled Day - Ordaining Margarita

Margaritas Ordination.jpg

Margarita Romo, in her 80's, an activist and advocate who helps and teaches families of farmworkers, poor migrants and others to help themselves, was ordained as Pastor in the ELCA on June 15, 2024 our Bishop,  Rev. Pedro Suarez. Pr Margarita’s family, many ELCA pastors, and Resurrection church members as well as guests were in attendance. Five LCOP and 2 former LCOP ladies, Laurie and Mallory Clark, were among the guests. The beautiful and joyful service was presented in both English and Spanish.

Many of you know Pr Margarita as we have been one of several Suncoast Conference ELCA churches to sponsor Rez House for many years, continuing to provide monies and supplies to her ministries still today. She has visited our church, and her son Pastor of Rez house Bruce Edwards has preached here from time to time.

Pr Margarita has lived a life of service, including founder and Exec Director of Farmworkers Self-Help, Inc. She has been honored by several organizations including the State of Florida throughout her years, and inducted into the Florida Civil Rights Hall of Fame. She was also presented an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from St. Leo University.

Pr Margarita was called and installed today as Pastor of Resurrection House Mission church in Dade City. She will continue to serve those who need help through her advocacy and preach the Good News of God's love. If you would like to learn more, we can provide a full bio of this remarkable woman.

If you would like to give your Sunday donations online, click the online giving icon to register for our church’s account. It's fast, easy and secure.
